Message From the Chief

On behalf of all police department staff, I would like to welcome you to our section of the City Website.  Since joining the Police Department in 1989 I have seen a great deal of change in the community.  One thing that has not changed, thankfully, is the support the Department receives from the community.

ChiefCommunity and Council support has been important in the significant changes in technology and equipment the Clyde Hill Police Department has received in the last decade.  These changes, coupled with the dedicated and professional officers employed by the city, have enabled this department to meet the increasing challenges our society presents.  I am honored to lead such a talented and knowledgeable group of officers and together we will utilize all resources available to us in order to assist and protect the members of our community.

Below is our Mission Statement and Goals for which we use to guide us in our day to day operations.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Clyde Hill Police Department is to coordinate and lead the efforts in our community to preserve the public peace and protect the rights of persons.  We pledge to provide assistance to citizens in urgent situations and to be diligent in our efforts to detect and prevent crime.  The Department is responsible for the enforcement of the laws of the United States of America, the State of Washington, City of Clyde Hill and the Town of Yarrow Point.

Our Goals

Members of the police department are dedicated to accomplishing our mission by:

  • Maintaining public peace and order through fair, professional and impartial enforcement of the law.
  • Fostering an environment of cooperation and trust within our organization and the community.
  • Conducting public business effectively, efficiently and with courtesy.
  • Challenging the future with a spirit of optimism, enthusiasm and innovation.
  • Valuing our citizens and fellow employees as the two most important resources in our community.

In addition to the actual crime statistics, the Department's effectiveness in accomplishing our goals and mission will be measured by a general community feeling that there is an absence of crime within the neighborhood and by the level of respect the Department achieves for its efforts and professionalism.

Sincerely
William J Archer
Chief of Police
