When should I call 911?
Dial 911 anytime you need an Officer for any reason. The Clyde Hill Police Department does not have its own dispatching center at the station. Clyde Hill contracts dispatching from an outside agency. If it is a parking complaint, barking dog nuisance, abandoned vehicle or major emergency, call 911! Your 911 call is received by a professionally trained Call Receiver. The caller's information comes up on a screen and includes the caller's phone number, address and the name of the billing party at that number/address. (Call receivers will need to confirm the information because it is not always accurate.) If you call from a cellular phone, you will need to provide your location and telephone number because that information is not currently available. The Call Receiver will then enter the information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and the Dispatcher will then send the appropriate emergency units. The Call Receiver and Dispatcher work simultaneously so there is no delay in sending the help that you need!
How do I use 911?
- At a business or other location you may need an outside line to dial 911.
- At a pay telephone, dialing 911 does not require a coin.
- When using a cellular phone, you must specify that you are using such and be prepared to give your location, including city or town. (Very important as 911 directly connects you with Washington State Patrol's dispatch and they will need your exact location in order to connect you with the agency closest to you.)
- To access TTY or TDD (Telephone Device for the Deaf), press the space bar until a response is received.

Should I call the Police Department to make an animal complaint or
to report a found or missing animal?
In general no, The city receives animal control services from King
County Animal Control. Please call them at (206) 296-PETS or go to
http://www.metrokc.gov/lars/animal/services/field.htm and click on
Animal Control Report of Complaint or Problem form.
In exigent situations where an animal poses an immediate threat or
creates a dangerous situation, please call 911 immediately.
Should I call the Police Department on a barking dog complaint?
During late night or early morning hours you can request Police
response to attempt to contact the owner to stop the immediate problem.
However, for persistent issues, the Police Department does not
investigate or forward complaint information to King County Animal
Control (KCAC). KCAC requires the citizen complainant to document the
date and time of these reoccurring events and to contact them directly
at 206-296-PETS or go to http://www.metrokc.gov/lars/animal/services/field.htm.
Should I bring a found animal to the Police Station?
The Police Department does not have the facilities that meet state
requirements to hold stray animals. Animals taken to the Police
Department will not be accepted by staff.
How can I tell if I live within the City limits of Clyde Hill?
Generally speaking, Clyde Hill sits between 84th Avenue NE and 98th Avenue NE (East/West), and between NE 12th Street and NE 32nd Street (North/South). So, house numbers lower than 84XX or 12XX are outside of Clyde Hill. The same is true for most house numbers higher than 97XX and 32XX.
