Apply to Serve: Planning Commission & Civil Service Commission

Clyde Hill community members are invited to apply to serve on the City's Planning Commission and Civil Service Commission. Candidate evaluation will be based on the following criteria: Interest in serving, availability to attend meetings and perform other duties of position, qualifications and experience, knowledge and skills, and ability to represent diverse community perspectives and geographic areas. All positions are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Appointed Commissioners for the City of Clyde Hill serve in an unpaid, volunteer capacity.

Open Commission Seats:

  • Planning Commission - Three open seats, each with 4-year terms (beginning January 2025)
  • Civil Service Commission - Two open seats, each with 4-year terms (beginning January 2025)

Applications are due Tuesday, December 3rd at 2:00 PM.

Once a Commission application is filed with the City, it is a public record. The application materials received from all candidates who meet the minimum requirements of state law may be presented as part of a public meeting to confirm an appointee.

Planning Commission

The Clyde Hill Planning Commission consists of five members who serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters involving zoning, land use, and long-range planning. Planning Commission meetings occur on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, with possible additional meetings scheduled as needed.

Civil Service Commission

The Clyde Hill Civil Service Commission consists of five members who have jurisdiction over full-time Police Department officers in matters relating to qualifications and hiring, as well as complaints or appeals by police officers concerning grievances, disciplinary matters, or termination. The Commission meets on an ad-hoc basis according to organizational needs.
